Trump commended the rally before the Capitol Hill riots broke out

Former President Trump called the crowd rally before the Capitol Hill riots on Jan. 6 a "festival of love".

Former US President Donald Trump in an interview with Fox News on February 28 mentioned the rally of his supporters on Capitol Hill on January 6.

When asked if he understood how badly the events were and if he wanted to change anything on January 6, Trump only gave praise to his supportive crowd.

"It was a large scale demonstration with a lot of people. Not the parliament building, I am referring to the supporters' demonstration. It is a festival of love, it is a beautiful thing," said the former president.

During the rally before the riots broke out on Jan. 6, former President Trump reiterated allegations of election fraud and urged his supporters to "show strength".

Trump's private lawyer Rudy Giuliani then also urged the crowd to take action and seemed to push things further.

Trump's speech is believed to have incited violence, prompting crowds of his supporters to storm the parliament building, raid, ransack, and clash with security forces.

After the Capitol Hill incident on January 6, Trump faced a second impeachment trial accused of inciting violence.
